These paddle strops are handmade by us here in the workshop. They are made from locally sourced Ash and have a piece of 3mm leather attached to one side with the fluffy side of the leather exposed for charging with some compound or honing paste. We have been using one of this style for the last 10 years and feel it gives great sharpening results. The strop is made from a 12mm thick piece of Ash and this means that they don't have any flex, so a lot of power can be used to help remove heavy burrs or get the edge back on a tool more quickly. They give a working area of 50mm x 200mm. We leave one side flat without any leather attached so that if you want to you can use this side with some sandpaper to actually sharpen your tool.
If requested we can apply a second piece of leather to the back of the strop with the smooth flesh side facing outwards to be able to use as a finer grade strop for an even sharper result.
They come with our logo branded into both sides and a leather lanyard to help hang it up when not in use.
They come to you with just the raw leather so you can apply your own honing compound or you can add a tube of Tormek Honing paste as well, which gives great results. For some extra tips to get the best from your strop have a look at this accompanying video
